“And verily! In the cattle, there is a lesson for you. We give you to
drink of that which is in their bellies, from between excretions and
blood, pure milk; palatable to the drinkers. (Quran 16:66 Translated
meaning)
We often see goats, sheep and cows eat grass, and yet it rarely
occurs to any of us to establish a link between this process and the
milk and the dairy products we consume. God lets them feed on this
grass, its ultimate transformation to be milk, one of the basic
nutriments. The first person who talk about the circulation of blood
was Ibn Nafees, 600 years after the Revelation of the Quran. And
later William Harvey made it common to the Western world, that is
1000 years after the Revelation of the Glorious Quran. At the time
of the Prophet, the fact that the blood carried the nutriments
absorbed from digested food into its constituents to mammary glands
for production of milk was not known. The new material transformed
from pasture into assimilated food and blood becomes a nutritious
food.
The Quran not only draws attention to truths unknown at the time,
but also displays facts to derive lessons from. The blood collects
and transports the substances formed by digested food to organs;
among others, to mammary glands. This process is initiated by blood
coming into contact with the contents of intestines, on their walls.
Before continuing its journey, carried by blood, part of the
digested food is absorbed by the intestines. This information is the
result of modern research in biology, chemistry and in the
physiology of digestion.
It is known through several reports and is a common fact that
Muhammad the Messenger of Allah never learned to read or write,
either at the beginning or the end of his life. It remains for us to
ask: Who informed Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)
about this? Who revealed this knowledge to him?
Blessed be He Who sent down the criterion (of right and wrong, i.e.
this Quran) to His slave (Muhammad) that he may be a warner to the
mankind. He to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the
earth, and Who has begotten no son (children or offspring) and for
Whom there is no partner in the dominion. He has created everything,
and has measured it exactly according to its due measurements. Yet
they have taken besides Him other gods that created nothing but are
themselves created, and possess neither hurt nor benefit for
themselves, and possess no power (of causing) death, nor (of giving)
life, nor of raising the dead. Those who disbelieve say: "This (the
Quran) is nothing but a lie that he (Muhammad) has invented, and
others have helped him at it, so that they have produced an unjust
wrong (thing) and a lie. And they say:
"Tales of the ancients, which
he has written down, and they are dictated to him morning and
afternoon." Say: "It (this Quran) has been sent down by Him (Allah)
(the Real Lord of the heavens and earth) Who knows the secret of the
heavens and the earth. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." (Quran
25: 1-6 Translated meaning)
